A Mako shark, whose satellite tag was sponsored by Hypower, Inc. was tracked for over 6,200 miles in 309 days. This female Mako was tagged on September 26, 2016 just south of Long Island, New York. Her last detection was in the Gulf of Mexico on August 1, 2017.

Halmos College of Natural Science and Oceanography’s shark tagging project is through the Guy Harvey Research Institute. Like Hypower: companies, schools, and individuals may donate to the shark tagging initiative.
