High School Students Visit Huizenga Business School, NSU Campus

Students from Plantation High School attend mock lecture.

Forty-eight students from Plantation High School’s Academy of Hospitality and Tourism visited NSU’s main campus on Oct. 20 for a Business Education Day. This was the fourth year educator Darryl Harris has brought his students to campus.

Their visit included a mock college lecture given by Albert Williams, Ph.D., assistant professor of finance and economics at the Huizenga Business School. His lecture was titled, “10 Principles for Managing Your Money.” In addition, Shantelle Maxwell and Monica Moreno from NSU’s Office of Career Development, presented on “Do’s and Don’ts when Preparing for Job Interviews.”

A similar event was held on Nov. 5, when 36 students from Stranahan High School’s Business Professionals of America (BPA) visited NSU. This was the fifth year Mr. Ed Steinlauf brought his students to campus. Williams presented a mock lecture for the BPA students titled “Strategic Debt Management for Teens.” An NSU admissions presentation was also given.

Following the presentations, students were given a campus tour which included a look at new dorm rooms and lunch in the University Center food court.
