HCBE Faculty Presents on Financial Literacy and Receives Recognition for 2017 NSU STUEY Faculty of the Year Award in Belize

Albert Williams, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Finance and Economics

Albert Williams, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Finance and Economics, at HCBE, gave a presentation on financial literacy to 150 high school juniors at Toledo Community College in Belize.  To break the ice, he played his guitar for them!  He reviewed the key elements of financial literacy and then had the students create a budget.  Half of the students had budget surpluses and the other half had budget deficits!  They came up with solutions: cut costs and/or find more income.  They had fun doing this exercise.  This contribution supports one of our core values, Community Involvement.

Also, Albert Williams, originally from Belize, was recognized countrywide via radio and television for winning the prestigious 2017 NSU STUEY Faculty of the Year award.  This was a proud moment for Belize. Albert Williams explained the significance of the award and he also gave a brief description of NSU and its programs.
