Halmos Students Win First Prize in at Life Science Symposium

At the end of March, biology major Aimee Doiron and chemistry major Rodrigo Muzquiz won first prize for their multidisciplinary at the STEM Undergraduate Symposium sponsored by Life Sciences of South Florida. Held at Florida International University, the symposium gives young researchers an opportunity to present their work, win prizes and step into the professional world. The project was led by principle investigators and Halmos faculty members Robert Smith, Ph.D. and Louis Nemzer, Ph.D.

Life Sciences South Florida draws on inspiration from successful clusters such as Silicon Valley in California and the Research Triangle in North Carolina to fuel the momentum of Florida’s fast-growing life sciences industry. It creates a link between world-class colleges and universities, renowned institutes and industry partners to drive research and accelerate commercialization.
