Halmos College Biology Students Win First Public Health Case Competition
On March 20 and 21, NSU’s Office of Career Development, Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography, the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences hosted the first public health case competition. There individuals or teams of undergraduate students presented their interpretation of the question, “You are the medical director of a clinic that is overcome with patient surge in the aftermath of a hurricane. How do you respond?”
The teams were ranked on the project’s concept and plan, creativity, the extent of research conducted for the project, and presentation. All winners are biology majors at the Halmos College.
The winners are as follows:
1st Place: Yash Mishra
2nd Place: Richard Merus & David Wilson
3rd Place: Wilford Miranda* & Leila Tou*
4th Place: Haley Diaz* & Christopher Mariani*
5th Place: Shana Abraham*, Jhanvi Patel* & Tiffanie Badal
Names with * are also members of the Farquhar Honors College
