Green up your Thanksgiving

Here are some quick tips you can keep in mind to make your Thanksgiving a little more eco-friendly.

Shopping for Food

The usual rules for green shopping apply to Thanksgiving too. Try to buy local and/or organic foods and prepare them in environmentally friendly ways. Don’t forget to bring reusable grocery bags when you shop!

Preparing Food

This is especially important for Thanksgiving, which creates tons of wasted food. Try to prepare reasonable-sized portions for your guests to reduce the amount of leftovers you’ll have. Plan ahead and not only will you have less waste, you’ll have a less of a mess to clean up when your finished.

Setting the Table

If you are holding a big celebration, you will probably use disposable plates and cutlery. These are available in biodegradable forms, so make sure they’re included on your Thanksgiving shopping list.

Recycling

Last, but not least, don’t forget to recycle when you clean up!
