Gomez Finishes Fifth and Facey 24th at Conclusion of LAAC 2015

Nova Southeastern University men’s golfers Santiago Gomez and Ian Facey each finished in the top 25 at the inaugural Latin America Amateur Championship that wrapped up Sunday at the Pilar Golf Club.

Gomez (Jr., Armenia, Colombia) finished in a tie for fifth with his best round coming in the finale, a 4-under-par 68. He was in the red for three of four rounds, going 69-75-70-68 for a 6-under total of 282. Facey (Sr., Miami) had his lowest score since his opening 68, going even on Sunday and finishing in a tie for 24th, 4-over at 292 (68-77-75-72).

Sixty-two of the original field of 109 played throughout the weekend’s final two rounds, with Matias Dominguez of Chile topping the leaderboard with an 11-under score of 277. He is now qualified to play the 2015 Masters, U.S. Amateur and the Amateur Championship. Runner-up Alejandro Tosti of the host country, Argentina, finished a stroke behind Dominguez, and he will be exempt to play the final qualifying of the 2015 Open and U.S. Open
