Sharks receive three honors on eve of national quarterfinals

Sharks receive three honors on eve of national quarterfinals

Two Nova Southeastern University men’s golfers were named to the 2015 Division II PING All-American First Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America, and a Shark first-year was named as an All-American freshman, in separate announcements late Wednesday night.

Santiago Gomez (Jr., Armenia, Colombia) and Richard Mansell (So., Staffordshire, England), the first- and second-ranked golfers in all of Division II, were part of the nine-man team announced by the GCAA. This marks the fifth straight year NSU men’s golfers were chosen for a national honor, and the fourth consecutive season multiple golfers received the nod. It’s the second award in as many years for Gomez at NSU, and Mansell’s first in his first season with the squad.

Additionally, Priyanshu Singh (Fr., Delhi, India) was named to the five man NCAA All-Freshman team, also announced by the GCAA.

The bulk of the 2015 All-American team is made up of Sunshine State Conference golfers, also including the Florida Southern duo of John Coultas and John VanDerLaan, and Mateo Gomez of Lynn. Three of the five freshmen were also SSC representatives, with Singh joining the same two men from FSC.
