Free Workshop on Mental Illness & Awareness, Oct.16

NSU’s Center for Psychology Services and the Student Organization for the Advocacy of Psychology (SOAP) have invited experts from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to present a free workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 16 from noon–1 pm in the Maltz Psychology Building, Room 2047 in recognition of National Mental Illness Awareness Week.

Experts will provide information designed to help create awareness about what is involved in identification and recovery from mental illness. Attendees will hear from individuals who have struggled with various conditions, such as depression, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, providing insight into how people with serious mental illness cope with the realities of their disorders while working to reclaim productive lives. These individuals will provide “living proof” that recovery from mental illness is achievable.

Open to all NSU students, faculty and staff–light food and refreshments will be served.
