Fischler Works with Attorney General to Host Free Cybersafety Web Presentation, June 2
As the school year comes to an end, many children will spend their summer vacation at home unsupervised while their parents are at work. More kids than ever will be online, chatting with “friends” on social networking sites, playing games, surfing the web, and texting with cell phones.
To help inform parents, and in honor of June as National Internet Safety Month, NSU’s Fischler School of Education and Human Services and its FBI-SOS (Safe Online Surfing) program has partnered with Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum to host a Parent’s Cybersafety Web Presentation on June 2 at 8 p.m.
This web presentation will help parents understand online safety issues and provide practical information to help them keep their children safe on the internet. The presentation includes real-life examples of internet threats to children, information on how to spot internet child predators, and best practices for helping children stay safe while surfing online. During the presentation, parents will also be able to ask the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit questions.
“The more parents know about safe internet use, the better they can help protect our children from internet child predators,” Attorney General McCollum said.
