Computer Sciences School Professor Publishes Paper in Journal of Asynchronous Learning Networks

Laurie Dringus, Ph.D., Professor at NSU’s Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences, has published her paper entitled “Learning Analytics Considered Harmful” in the Journal of Asynchronous Learning Networks (JALN), Volume 16, Issue 3, June 2012. Her paper is part of an invited contribution to the Special Issue on Learning Analytics, edited by Karen Swan, Ed.D., from University of Illinois, Springfield. The paper is a critique of the strategic and tactical issues encountered when applying learning analytics to online learning.

Dringus’s research areas include human-computer interaction, group support systems, usability engineering, online learning environments, learning theory, distance learning.
