Captain is Back! Marine Environmental Education Center Reopens after Hurricane Irma

MEECCaptain, the educational green sea turtle, has returned from her hurricane Irma evacuation to Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium. She is in good health and is ready to welcome the public. The Marine Environmental Education Center (MEEC) is open to the public Tuesday – Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The MEEC was fostered from a partnership between Broward County Parks and Recreation and Nova Southeastern University. The facility is located on the historic grounds of the Carpenter House at Hollywood North Beach Park in Hollywood, Florida. If you’re ready to meet a turtle and explore the wonders of our South Florida Beach Ecosystems, then Seek the MEEC and head on down to the Carpenter House Marine Environmental Education Center!
