CAHSS Faculty Presents at Conference in Kenya Organized by CAHSS Doctoral Alum

Cheryl Duckworth, Ph.D., with Hassan Kannenje, Ph.D.. in Nairobi

Cheryl Duckworth, Ph.D., presented her research on the role of schools in preventing violent extremism at the International Conference on Terrorism and Violent Extremism held in Nairobi, Kenya, on April 24-26, 2018.  Hassan Kannenje, Ph.D., a doctoral graduate in Conflict Analysis and Resolution in the Department of Conflict Resolution Studies in NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS), organized the conference.  Kannenje directs the HORN Institute in Nairobi, which focuses on peace and security in that region of Africa.

Duckworth teaches qualitative research methods, foundations of conflict resolution, history, memory and conflict resolution, and peace education. She is active in the International Studies Association, the Comparative and International Education Society and the International Peace Research Association.
