CAHSS Alum Presents at 2018 Hwa Kang International Conference at Chinese Culture University
Jenny Chang, Ph.D.
Jenny Chang, Ph.D., graduate of the doctoral program in the Department of Conflict Resolution Studies, in NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS), presented at the 2018 Hwa Kang International Conference on English Language & Literature organized by Chinese Culture University. Chang’s presentation was entitled, “Teaching ESP Course in Conflict Resolution: Culture and Language,” on May 5, 2018. “ESP” is an abbreviation for “English for Specific Purposes”.
Chang has extensive experience as a teacher of conflict resolution and as a cross-cultural dispute resolution professional on several continents. As a certified county-court mediator in Florida, she has conducted conflict resolution workshops and presented on topics related to trust building, harmony and conflict, intercultural communication and conflict transformation among others. Currently, Chang is doing research on leadership: emotional intelligence and the role of “中庸 (the Doctrine of Mean)” in conflict resolution. Her publications include trust conceptualization, trust development, trust building, forgiveness and reconciliation, and the impact of role-based obligation fulfilment on restoration of parent-child relationships after conflicts.
