NSU Alumni Spotlight: CAHSS Alum Named Director of Clayton County DFCS in Georgia

Nia Imani Cantey, Ph.D

Nia Imani Cantey, Ph.D., graduate of the doctoral program in the Department of Conflict Resolution Studies in NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) has been named the Director for Clayton County Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) in Georgia.

Cantey has extensive experience with DFCS including as the Georgia Independent Living Program Manager and as Director of DFCS’ Home Based Services Unit. She served as Director of the Tennessee State University Center on Aging and as an Associate Professor of the Mid-Tennessee Collaborative Master of Social Work (MTC-MSW) Program. In addition to her doctoral degree, Cantey holds an M.S.W. from Florida State University and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida A & M University.
