Bloomberg Reporter Interviews Huizenga School Professors

A Bloomberg reporter (from The Bureau of National Affairs – BNA) interviewed Bahaudin Mujtaba, D.B.A., professor of management at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship and author of the book Workforce Diversity Management, for their “Workforce Strategies” report entitled “Hispanic Employees: Addressing the Challenge of the Multicultural Workplace” (February 2013, volume 31, Number 2). This 27-page report discusses challenges and opportunities employers face in the creation of an inclusive and diverse workplace that represents their customers.

Faculty members in many schools around the United States and abroad have used Mujtaba’s book, which is now in its second edition, as a required or recommended book, including such schools as Rutgers University, University of Evansville, St. Thomas University, Warren Wilson College, Georgetown University, Central Michigan University, and others. Mujtaba is a certified diversity trainer through the National Multicultural Institute (NMCI), served as a corporate management development specialist for many years, and has trained thousands of managers through diversity management workshops over the past two decades. This book stands out from traditional publications as it goes beyond awareness to behavioral modification of employees and managers in a diverse workplace.

Bloomberg also interviewed Frank Cavico, D.P.A., professor of ethics and law at the Huizenga Business School, who is the author of the book “Business Law for the Entrepreneur and Manager,” for their report. Cavico emphasized that modern managers need to accept diversity, enforce laws fairly, and become culturally competent if they are to remain competitive in today’s diverse economy.
