Biology students inducted into TriBeta National Biological Honor Society
The 2017 Inductees into the TriBeta National Biological Honor Society (Rho Rho) Chapter joined by faculty and administration.
The NSU chapter (Rho Rho) of the National Biological Honor society (Beta Beta Beta or TriBeta) welcomed 98 new members at its 15th annual Induction ceremony held at the Hull auditorium on April 4, 2017. TriBeta is dedicated to improving the understanding and appreciation of biological study and extending boundaries of human knowledge through scientific research.
The event was hosted by the academic honor society’s 2016-2017 executive board members, including president Morgan Quarles, vice-president Abhaya Moturu, secretary Monica Singh, treasurer Ali Awad, and historian Geethu James, and faculty advisor Aarti Raja, Ph.D., associate professor at the NSU Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography.
Speaker Paula A. F. Waziry, Ph.D.
The guest speaker was Paula A. F. Waziry, Ph.D., an assistant Professor at the Institute of Neuro Immune medicine, NSU-College of Medicine, and Intergovernmental Personnel (IPA) at the VA hospital, Miami. She shared her latest research on cell biology and environmental factors that influence mechanisms of pathogens-host interaction as well as the process of conducting research.
The event was attended by students, family members, NSU and TriBeta alumni, faculty, and administration. During the ceremony, new inductees joined the officers and current members including alumni in reciting TriBeta’s membership pledge and signing their names in the membership book, solidifying induction into the honor society.
