Association for the Advancement of International Education Moves Headquarters to Nova Southeastern University

Offices Established at the Fischler School of Education and Human Services’ West Palm Beach Student Education Center

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE) has officially moved their headquarters to NSU’s West Palm Beach Student Education Center, as part of the group’s partnership with the Fischler School of Education and Human Services (FSEHS). The group was previously headquartered at Sheridan College in Wyoming.

AAIE has provided a forum for the exchange of ideas and research in the field of international education and school leadership since its inception in 1966. The group also strives to advance international education through partnerships with academic institutions and associations.

“Our partnership with NSU will help to promote the AAIE family of educators and advance internatinal education worldwide,” said Elsa Lamb, Ed.D., AAIE’s Executive Director. “We decided to move to NSU because the university shares our global perspective.”

AAIE also offers professional development opportunities, with an emphasis on international school leadership. Its annual conference is held in the United States each February, and professional training is offered to teachers and administrators through summer institutes. The group also provides an informal communication network through four online list services.

Anthony DeNapoli, Ed.D., FSEHS’s Dean of International Affairs, has been working with Lamb to direct the partnership and move, which will better allow AAIE to promote education while leveraging the strength of NSU’s cultural awareness and international networks.

“This could not have been a closer fit with regard to mission and to commitment to excellence in international programming,” DeNapoli said. “Though this organization has morphed throughout the years, its focus on high standards and professionalsm has not changed.”

AAIE is made up of more than 400 members from 92 countries, including: school administrators, university professors and representatives, international school counselors and teachers, U.S. State Department Officials, and others who wish to promote international education.

The group has collaborated with the National Association of Independent Schools to develop an International Trustee Handbook, and with the Association of International School Heads to create a Teacher Recruitment Task Force.
