Sandra Benavides Caballero, Pharm.D.

Sandra Benavides Caballero, Pharm.D., associate professor of Pediatrics, Department of Pharmacy Practice, at NSU’s College of Pharmacy, has been appointed to the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) Pediatric Specialty Council.  The Board of Pharmacy Specialties establishes a Specialty Council for each recognized pharmacy practice specialty.  Members of the Council recommend to the standards and other requirements for certification and recertification of pharmacists in the specialty; develop and administer examinations as required for certification and recertification of pharmacists in the specialty; and evaluate the qualifications of individual pharmacists and to submit to the BPS the names of those pharmacists recommended for certification or recertification in the specialty.

BPS Chairman, Joseph Saseen, Pharm.D., offered the following comments: “The work of the Specialty Councils is absolutely critical to the establishment and maintenance of a high quality pharmacist Board Certification Program. The response to the call for Specialty Council nominations was very strong and BPS is pleased to have an outstanding group of clinicians, educators and administrators to lead the newest BPS specialties.”
