2015 Applied Research on Substance Use & Health Disparities Annual Report now Available
NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) is pleased to announce that the 2015 ARSH Annual Report has been completed and is available online at https://www.nova.edu/publications/arsh-annual-report-2015/index.html
The report includes grants, the 2015 presentations and publications, a list of the numerous media interviews and contacts, as well as service to the university, community, and profession. The principal mission of ARSH, the Center for Applied Research on Substance Use and Health Disparities (ARSH) at CAHSS, is the production, dissemination, and utilization of scientific knowledge in the areas of substance abuse, health risk behaviors, and health disparities among vulnerable populations. Steven P. Kurtz, Ph.D., is director and professor in the Department of Justice and Human Services. Mance E. Buttram, Ph.D., is the associate director and assistant professor in the Department of Justice and Human Services.
Areas of special interest include:
- The etiology, patterns and consequences, and prevention and treatment of drug and alcohol abuse;
- The epidemiology of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections, and the prevention of such infections among highly vulnerable populations;
- The prevalence and patterns of health disparities among affected subpopulations, and the development and testing of new approaches to intervention.
