No. 1 Women’s Golf Practically Sweeps All-SSC Awards

The No. 1 Nova Southeastern women’s golf team earned high praise in this year’s All-Sunshine State Conference awards, capturing Golfer of the Year, Freshman of the Year and four 1st Team All-SSC selections as announced by the conference office Tuesday, April 24.

A total of 11 student-athletes have been recognized as members of the 2013 All-Sunshine State Conference Women’s Golf Team with NSU’s Linnea Johansson (Fr., Vaxjo, Sweden), earning the two highest honors of Golfer and Freshman of the Year.

In her debut season from Vaxjo, Sweden, Johansson rolled to six top-five finishes in nine tournaments. Among those performances were back-to-back individual titles at the Lady Moc Classic and the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational. She also had a couple of runner-up finishes to her credit, placing second at Bucknell’s Bison Invitational and tying for second at the Saint Leo Invitational. Other top-five finishes came at the Yale Intercollegiate and Guy Harvey Invitational, where Johansson placed third and tied for fourth, respectively. Over 24 rounds of play, she registered a 74.08 stroke average. Complete Release
