U.S. Department of Education Awards NSU Unprecedented Title V Grant Focused on Graduate Program Offerings

Nova Southeastern University has announced that its Fischler School of Education and Human Services has been awarded an unprecedented $2.7 million Title V Grant to further enhance the school’s program and academic opportunities for its graduate students.

NSU’s Fischler School Partners With Miami HEAT to Give Away More than $15,000 in Scholarships

The Fischler School of Education and Human Services of Nova Southeastern University (NSU) will hand out more than $15,000 in scholarships to the winners of the annual Miami HEAT / Fischler School of NSU essay contest, which runs now until Wednesday, March 25.

To enter the 2009 contest, submit a 250-word or fewer essay on the theme: “Tell us why you or someone you know would cause an effect and change the world with a college degree.”

NSU Receives $5.6 Million in Title V Funding

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) has announced that it has been awarded two Title V Grants totaling 5.6 million dollars by the U.S. Department of Education. The grants, paid out over several years, are awarded to Hispanic-serving institutions of higher education and will provide support to develop research-based programs targeted at increasing student engagement and retention, leading to academic success.


Kids@Home Life Coach Helps Former Foster Teen Win Four Year Scholarship

At 17 “Mimi”, suddenly found herself part of the state foster care system, working through difficult family issues and juggling her senior year studies while trying to plan for her future.

At age 18 the state support system ended almost as suddenly as it began for Mimi. Having been in the system for less than six months, she no longer qualified for any state assistance.


NSU Opens Unicorn Children’s Foundation Clinic in September

For parents of children suspected of autism spectrum disorder, finding and obtaining an early and accurate diagnosis is a challenge on many different levels – until now.

Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Interdisciplinary Council for the Study of Autism announces the opening of the Unicorn Children’s Foundation Clinic beginning September 16. The clinic, the first-of-its-kind in Broward County, offers parents a unique interdisciplinary approach to obtaining an assessment and possible diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder in children ages birth to five years old.


UM – NSU Launch Mobile Autism Family Clinic in Broward County

The University of Miami-Nova Southeastern University Center for Autism and Related Disabilities’ new mobile autism clinic will be in Davie on Saturday, Aug. 23rd.

This first-of-its-kind Mobile Family Autism clinic is a 23-foot bus that’s equipped with high-tech tools that allow health care providers to evaluate children for signs of autism.

The Fourth Annual Carrie P. Meek Outstanding Education Leadership Achievements Awards will honor Gepsie Metellus, director of the Sant La Haitian Neighborhood Center, and Ramon Dawkins, principal of Sunland Park Elementary School.


DCF Secretary Bob Butterworth to speak at Foster Child Conference at NSU

Florida Department of Children & Families Secretary Bob Butterworth will discuss strategies to improve the lives of foster children Thursday (Feb 14) at a youth empowerment conference at Nova Southeastern University (NSU).

Butterworth will be making his remarks at the conference, called Fostering Success: Strategies to Empower Youth to Succeed as Adults.


Educational Research Symposium to be held at Nova Southeastern University

Nova Southeastern University’s Health Profession’s Division will be holding its 2nd annual Health Professional Educational Research Symposium this weekend.

The conference, which will run from Jan. 18 to 20, will engage health care faculty from around the country in a discussion about educational research and teaching in the health professions. It will be held at NSU’s Health Professions Divisions (HPD), which consists of six colleges —- osteopathic medicine, optometry, dental medicine, medical sciences, pharmacy and allied health and nursing.
