SHSS Student Publishes Article in Journal of Healthcare, Science and Humanities

Andrew A. Ovienloba, M.A., a doctoral student in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), had an article published in the Spring volume of the Journal of Healthcare, Science and the Humanities. The journal is published by Navy Medicine in partnership with the Smithsonian Institution. Ovienloba’s article is entitled: “Assessing the Ethics of Cultural and Spiritual Challenges to Informed Consent in Medical Practice and Research.” He wrote the article while completing the practicum sequence in the doctoral program. His practicum involved working with the Bioethics and Compliance Committees at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY.

Ovienloba is an Interfaith Conflict and Crisis Interventionist Practitioner in Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Medical Center.  He is also an adjunct instructor at Columbia College of Missouri teaching Religion and Human Experience.
