SHSS Faculty and Students Help Local Children Prepare for School

Anne Rambo, Ph.D., faculty in the Department of Family Therapy (DFT) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), was commended by the administration of the North Side Elementary School in Ft. Lauderdale for assisting with their Back to School Health Fair. Rambo and student volunteers from DFT helped families at the fair by escorting them through the vaccination process, including helping them complete paperwork. As a result, 100 children were vaccinated and approximately 200 children were provided with school supplies. Many of the Creole speaking families in attendance appreciated the assistance with the process.

Rambo is author of the book, I Know My Child Can Do Better: A Frustrated Parent’s Guide to Educational Solutions, and is the faculty supervisor for SUPERB, Students United with Parents and Educators to Resolve Bullying.
