SHSS Faculty Featured on Basketball Wives2 and Pulse

Debra Nixon, Ph.D.

Debra Nixon, Ph.D., faculty in the Department of Family Therapy (DFT) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) was the guest family therapist on the nationally syndicated reality television show, Basketball Wives2. She appeared in three episodes.

Nixon was also a panelist on the Feb. 20, 2011 episode of WPBT Channel 2 show Pulse. The episode was entitled “Being Black in South Florida.” The panel was comprised of women of color who discussed their experiences in America and South Florida.

In addition to her faculty responsibilities, Nixon is the SHSS Inclusion & Diversity Facilitator and the faculty advisor to the SHSS Student Government Association. Her research interests include gender and women’s issues, diversity and multiculturalism, and the pedagogy of building learning communities.
