SHSS Alum Helps Start Amis d’Haiti

Valerie Cochrane, M.S., a recent graduate of the master’s program in the Department of Family Therapy (DFT) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) is a founder of the not-for-profit group, Amis d’Haiti – meaning Friends of Haiti. Members of the group traveled to Haiti to provide mental health and education services for survivors of this year’s devastating earthquake. The group anticipates further outreach to the people of Port-Au-Prince.

In addition to her master’s degree in Family Therapy from NSU, Cochrane received her bachelor’s degree in Marketing with a minor in French from Southern Illinois University.
