Baroniel and Singh pick up of first SSC honors of their careers.

The Nova Southeastern University athletic duo of golfer Priyanshu Singh (Fr., Delhi India) and pitcher Roberto Baroniel (Sr., Miami, Fla.) received conference recognition on Monday, March 23 as Singh was named the Sunshine State Conference Golfer of the Week, while Baroniel was named the SSC Pitcher of the Week.

Last week, the Sharks travelled to Decatur, Georgia where they competed in the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Georgia College. With the help of Singh, they were able to get their fourth straight tournament win to start the year. The freshman finished in second place out of 93 competitors after shooting a 69, 71, and 69 in the three rounds to give him a final score of 1-under par. Singh’s third round 69 was one of only two scores under par for that round. He was also one of just two competitors the finish the tournament with a three day score that was under par.

Making his eighth start of the season, Baroniel struck out a career high ten batters on his way to his fifth win of the season. Baroniel led the Sharks to the opening win of the three-game sweep of Florida Southern, winning Friday, March 20 contest by a score of 5-2. Baroniel allowed just two runs (one earned) in the victory. Baroniel leads the team in strikeouts with 47, while holding a 2.87 ERA.
