Peter J. Witschen, M.P.A. Appointed Vice President for Facilities at Nova Southeastern University

FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – Peter (Pete) Witschen, M.P.A. has been appointed Vice President for Facilities at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). The announcement was made today by NSU President and Chief Executive Officer George L. Hanbury II, Ph.D.

In his new role, Witschen is responsible for the University’s Physical Plant, Construction and Public Safety.  As such, he will maintain and renovate the buildings, grounds and infrastructure of NSU’s main and satellite campuses. He is also responsible for ensuring the safety of students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Witschen will assure that the university’s facilities are conducive to the education and student-centered mission of NSU by supplying reliable power, modern classrooms, and research facilities to the university’s students, faculty and staff.  He will also oversee NSU’s effort to advance sustainability through waste reduction, recycling and energy management programs.

“Pete has demonstrated years of experience managing operations at Nova Southeastern University and at many municipalities,” Hanbury said.  “His knowledge of public safety and environmental issues are invaluable, and make him a perfect fit for this important job.”

Most recently, Witschen served NSU as Executive Director for Facilities. Prior to that, he served in city manager positions for numerous municipalities including the City of Fort Lauderdale, East Providence, Melbourne, Cape Canaveral, and Lake Hopatcong, N.J.  He holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is one of the nation’s first International Credentialed City Managers (ICMA).
