Free: Learn practical skills for discipline, bedtime and the healthy development of your child
Ft. Lauderdale, FL — The Mailman Segal Institute (MSI) for Early Childhood Studies at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) is partnering with Whole Foods Market in a collaborative series of parent workshops developed to teach parents practical skills for fostering healthy child development and behavior.
Roni Leiderman, Ph.D., Dean, NSU’s Mailman Segal Institute, kicked off the first of many “Mom’s Morning” workshops last month with Mealtime Magic: Find Strategies to make mealtime a stress-free family affair.
Workshops, led by early childhood specialists, are held each second Tuesday of the month in the Whole Foods Market, Plantation location. Everyone is welcome to these free workshops which include a free muffin, coffee and five-minute massage!

Learn the knowledge and practical skills to improve family communication and encourage cooperation from Sande Gruskin, M.S., Director, Family Center Parenting Place. Discuss challenges with other parents and learn effective discipline strategies that encourage self esteem and mutual respect. - Is My Child on Track? June 9, 9:00am-10:30am
Join Lorraine Breffni, Director, Family Center Early Learning Programs, to learn more about the typical language milestones in child development and discuss your concerns with your child’s language development. - Bedtime Challenges, July 14, 9:00am-10:30am
Explore various alternatives and strategies that provide nurturing approaches to the bedtime routine (birth-five years) with Laurie Waldman, Coordinator, Infant & Toddler Programs at the Family Center Parenting Place.
