NSU’s H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship Faculty and Alumnus to Present at International Conference

FORT LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University (NSU) faculty members Art Weinstein, Ph.D., chair and professor of marketing; Donovan A. McFarlane, Ed.D., adjunct professor; and H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship alumnus Emmanuel Trenche (M.B.A. 2011), will present at the Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals’ conference (SCIP) in Orlando,  May 5-9.

Established in 1986, SCIP is a global nonprofit membership organization for everyone involved in creating and managing business knowledge. Its mission is to enhance the success of its members through leadership, education, advocacy, and networking. Specifically, SCIP provides education and networking opportunities for business professionals working in the rapidly growing fields of strategy and competitive intelligence. Today SCIP has chapters as well as alliance partnerships with independent affiliate organizations around the world.

NSU’s faculty members Weinstein and McFarlane are co-collaborators on the SCIP presentation “How Knowledge Organizations Can Win in the Market by Co-creating Value with Customers.”

Trenche’s trademarked concept, “Speed to Intelligence” helps companies understand how they can compete better and faster in today’s digital era. He will present this methodology during the SCIP conference alongside top executives from Best Buy, Humana, Intel Corporation, and Cisco Systems, Inc.

About the presenters:

Art Weinstein, Ph.D., specializes in providing practical strategic solutions, grounded in relevant theory, to complex business problems at NSU’s Huizenga Business School. Beginning his career as a marketing researcher, he has evolved into an internationally known expert in market definition/segmentation and customer value. Weinstein has assisted some of the leading companies in the world, such as Bayer Diagnostics, Bristol-Myers Squibb Canada, Citrix Systems, Hewlett Packard, Intel, and Motorola, with their market segmentation initiatives, for which customer behavior and market forces drive his recommendations. Weinstein has authored six books and more than 70 scholarly papers in his areas of expertise. His passion for publishing is equaled by his passion for assisting his students with career aspirations, advising on successful entrepreneurial ventures, providing new insights to business executives, and introducing students to career opportunities in marketing.

Donovan A. McFarlane, M.B.A., M.I.B., Ed.D., is an adjunct professor of marketing in the Huizenga Business School’s MBA programs where he is also the faculty blog manager. In addition, McFarlane serves as an adjunct professor of business administration at Broward College. Formerly, McFarlane was a visiting professor of management at the Keller Graduate School of Management in Downers Grove, IL, where he taught leadership and organizational behavior in the master’s degree programs. McFarlane currently serves as faculty advisor in business administration for Frederick Taylor University’s, Moraga, CA, online graduate and undergraduate programs. He holds degrees in several fields and is published in several scholarly journals in fields of management, entrepreneurship, leadership, and marketing.

Emmanuel Trenche, M.B.A., is a 2011 graduate of NSU’s Huizenga Business School and currently vice president of marketing and communications for clearCi, a competitive intelligence software company that helps businesses develop insights needed to compete in a digital environment. Trenche is responsible for driving clearCi’s marketing and communications efforts across all markets, educating executives on how to make competitive intelligence accessible and useful across the entire organization.  Previously, Trenche served as director of marketing and communications at one of North America’s largest commercial print and direct mail companies, Rex Three, Inc.  He also served as diversity chair for the Advertising Federation of Greater Fort Lauderdale in 2009. Trenche also holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications and Marketing from Florida International University in Miami, FL.
