NSU’s Shepard Broad Law Center Moot Court Travel team consist of Barry Chenman, Tal Harari, and Maegan Bridwell were named regional champions of the 2014 American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Moot Court Competition held in San Francisco, Feb. 20-22, 2014.

The competition emphasizes the development of oral advocacy skills through a realistic appellate advocacy experience. Competitors participate in a hypothetical appeal to the United States Supreme Court. The competition involves writing a brief as either a respondent or petitioner and then arguing the case in front of the mock court. The competition topic was on Labor Law.

As one of four teams from the regional round advancing to the National Finals, NSU defeated teams from Gonzaga, UCLA, University of California-Davis, Oklahoma City, and in the final round, University of the Pacific (McGeorge).

Coached by Law Center Professors Heather Baxter, J.D., and Megan Chaney, J.D., the team will compete in the National Finals April 10-12 in Chicago, Ill.
