It was standing room only as NSU students, professors, staff and guests gathered on Wednesday, April 15, to hear Neal Asbury shares his insight for the last Distinguished Lecture Series event for the 2014-’15 academic year presented by the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship.

Asbury, CEO of The Legacy Companies, a multi-national home appliance and commercial foodservice equipment company based in Ft. Lauderdale, spoke on the topic, “America Must Believe in Itself Again: Rediscovering Our Faith in Entrepreneurialism Can Solve Everything.” He pointed out that it was “wonderful to come to a university that wants to engage in entrepreneurism.”

According to Asbury, America was built on three pillars–free enterprise, innovation and the pursuit of the American dream. “If America wants to restore its greatness, it needs to return to these pillars,” he said. “I’m an optimist. I believe America will turn around.”

He emphasized, “While I pursue my American dream, I will help others reach theirs.” Asbury’s company has one of the strongest portfolios of leading brands in the industry and manufactures, sells and services products in more than 130 countries.

As lecture series participants left the event, they were given copies of Asbury’s book, “Conscientious Equity: An American Entrepreneur’s Solutions to the World’s Greatest Problems.”
