Washington wins second recognition in a row while Jordan and Munley receive their first honors this year.

The Nova Southeastern University track and field program’s Talyn Washington (Sr., Royal Palm Beach, Fla.), Vanessa Munley (Sr. Moosic, Pa.) and Sherrelle Jordan (So., Chandler, Ariz.) all earned Peach Belt Conference Athletes of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday. The Sharks were honored for their performances at the Hurricane Invitational, in which they competed against a loaded NCAA Division I field.

Washington won the men’s track honor after he beat all collegiate runners and placed second overall with a time of 46.89 in the 400-meter dash. Provisionally qualified for nationals already, Washington is now under four tenths of a second off the automatic qualifying time. He currently holds the best time in all of NCAA Division II, while only five NCAA DI runners have topped his time this season. Washington also led the Sharks to top-three finishes in the 4×100-meter and 4×400-meter relays.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Jordan placed eighth with a time of 14.22 to earn PBC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. Her time provisionally qualified her for nationals and is a second off the auto time. She is currently the fourth-ranked 100m hurdler in the nation and holds the top time in the PBC. Jordan also ran in the 4×100-meter relay, placing third.

Taking the women’s field honor was Munley, who recorded a victory in the pole vault with a mark of 3.45m, the best mark in the PBC. She also led the Sharks in the long jump with a mark of 4.79m and hit a mark of 10.47m in the triple jump.

The Sharks will compete at the UCF Track Invitational Saturday in Orlando, Florida.
