Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship Dean’s List Luncheon

More than180 undergraduate students attained the 3.5 GPA required to earn a place on the Dean’s list for the winter 201430 semester. On September 24th, 2014, nearly fifty faculty and staff members of the Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship joined these students to celebrate their achievement in the Atrium of the Carl De Santis Building. This luncheon allows each student to meet with the faculty and staff in a more informal environment, allowing them to have meaningful conversations with those responsible for facilitating their transition from student to graduate. Forty one students were in attendance at this event.

Barri Litt, Ph.D., professor of Accounting, spoke to the students about having “grit,” which she defined as “passion and perseverance for very long-term goals – it’s stamina – it’s envisioning and working toward your future not just for the week, or month, but day in and day out for years to make that future a reality. It’s knowing that your brain actually expands when challenged, motivating you to keep striving to learn and grow until you’ve reached your definition of success.”

Following Professor Litt’s speech, John Gironda, professor of Marketing, congratulated the students on their accomplishments and told them “ You’re the reason we do what we do and the reason we love what we do.”
