Free Voluntary Prekindergarten Program (VPK) Available at Baudhuin Preschool

The Baudhuin Preschool at NSU’s Mailman Segal Center is enrolling age eligible children in their free, high quality Voluntary Prekindergarten Program (VPK). Instruction is provided by classroom teachers with a Florida teaching certificate in pre-k primary certification. Instruction runs from August 18, 2014 through the first week of June 2015 from 8 – 11 a.m., five days a week. Eligible candidates for the free VPK program are:

  • four years of age on or before September 1, 2014;
  • born between September 2, 2009 and September 1, 2010.

The VPK program at the Baudhuin Preschool provides a school readiness rich environment of instruction in emergent literacy skills, including expressive and receptive language, phonological awareness, print knowledge and vocabulary development. Emphasis is also placed on numerical relations and reasoning skills, gross and fine motor development and social skill acquisition. VPK students participate in weekly specials such as music, playground time and physical education. Workshops are provided free to VPK families on critical topics such as language, communication and emerging literacy, dealing with behavior issues and transitioning to kindergarten.
