Frank De Piano, Ph.D. Appointed Executive Vice President and Provost for Academic Affairs at Nova Southeastern University

Fort Lauderdale-Davie, Fla.Frank De Piano, Ph.D., has been appointed Executive Vice President and University Provost for Academic Affairs at Nova Southeastern University (Nova).  The announcement was made by Nova Chancellor Ray Ferrero, Jr., J.D.

“We are fortunate to benefit from Dr. De Piano’s leadership, steering Nova Southeastern University toward even greater heights of academic excellence,” said Nova Southeastern University Chancellor Ray Ferrero, Jr., J.D. “His dedication to  academic excellence will prove to be invaluable as Nova grows its research, launches projects like the Oceanographic Center of Excellence in Coral Reef Ecosystems, and builds the university’s various curriculums and interdisciplinary programs.”

De Piano will plan and coordinate initiatives related to the academic development at Nova, with the deans of the university’s NSU’s 16 colleges and schools reporting to him.  His responsibilities also include oversight of Nova’s Health Professions Division, NSU Health Care Centers, and Student Educational Centers.

De Piano has had leadership roles at Nova for 30 years.  He served as Vice President of Academic Affairs, Founding Dean of NSU’s Center for Psychological Studies, and Associate Dean of the College of Dental Medicine. He also served as the Chief Editor of three peer reviewed journals as well as for a book series.  He is the Chair of the current Council of Deans.

De Piano has served on the American Psychological Association’s Board of Educational Affairs’ Executive Committee and as President of the Society of Psychological Hypnosis, and serving as chair of numerous higher education accreditation site visits and national education task forces.

De Piano received his Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina.
