FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla.– January 29, 2014 -

University School of Nova Southeastern University (NSU) continues its tradition of excellence by naming former Denver Broncos practice squad wide receiver Brandon Harris the new head varsity football coach and director of inclusion and special college placement. Harris is relocating from Phoenix, AZ where he was the director of admissions, marketing, and strategic resources as well as head football coach for Phoenix Christian Preparatory School.

Harris started his football career as a receiver at the University of Idaho and also played for Sacramento of the World Football League. He has more than 19 years of college and high school coaching experience and has coached NFL players including safety Mike Brown and receivers Bobby Wade and Zack Miller.

“Coach Harris was just really the perfect fit,” said Paul Herfurth, University School’s Athletic Director. “He’s had a lot of success building and maintaining successful programs and we are confident that his skills and experience will make a positive impact on our student-athletes.”

Herfurth also added, “He has great experience, but also has the intangibles we were looking for. It’s not just about a football coaching hire. It’s about having a great leader and someone with strong character.”

As Director of Inclusion and Special College Placement, Harris will also have the responsibility of assisting University School students with special talents including artists, musicians, debaters, as well as student-athletes as they work their way through the college admissions process.

“Harris’ extensive academic experience coupled with his background in sales, marketing, admissions, and athletics make him the perfect person for the job. We’re really excited about having him,” said University School Headmaster Jerome Chermak.
