Florida’s Funniest Mystery Writer, Deborah Sharp, Visits NSU Library to Talk About “Mama Rides Shotgun” – Dec. 8
FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – One of the nation’s funniest mystery writers and a Florida native, Deborah Sharp, will be speaking about her latest novel in the Mace Bauer Mystery series at Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
Sharp is appearing at NSU’s library as part of the Circle of Friends of the Alvin Sherman Library’s 2009 Author Series: Mystery Uncovered. Join the Circle of Friends for this upcoming literary event:

Tuesday, Dec. 8 at the Alvin Sherman Library, NSU’s main campus, 3301 College Ave. in Davie- 5:30-6:30 p.m. – Reception with the author, open to Circle of Friends members only
- 6:30-7:30 p.m. – Author discussion and book signing, FREE and open to the public
Sharp was a reporter for USA Today for nearly two decades before she traded news stories for the funny ‘Mace Bauer Mystery’ series, set in the rodeo-and-ranches slice of her native Florida. The series debuted with Mama Does Time (Midnight Ink, 2008). Now Mama’s out of the slammer and into the saddle in Mama Rides Shotgun (July 2009.) In 2010’s Mama Gets Hitched, Mama ties the sacred knot of matrimony . . . for the fifth time.
Sharp’s mysteries are traditional, with a Southern-fried edge: Think Agatha Christie meets My Name is Earl. She lives in Fort Lauderdale with her husband of 20 years, television reporter Kerry Sanders. Her short fiction and essays on lifestyle, writing, and women’s topics have appeared nationally. She’s a humor commentator for WUSF-FM, a National Public Radio station in Tampa, and has appeared on NBC’s TODAY Show.
The Deborah Sharp, author of Mama Rides Shotgun: A Mace Bauer Mystery reception is FREE to Circle of Friends members, but cost $50 for non-members (which includes a one-year Circle of Friends membership.) The Circle of Friends is a diverse group of individuals who share the common goal of furthering the intellectual resources of the Alvin Sherman Library.
