Exhibition Opening: The Indestructible Lee Miller

The Indestructible Lee Miller, considers the life and work of preeminent American photographer Lee Miller from three perspectives: as the as the favored model of leading photographers including Edward Steichen and Arnold Genthe during the 1920s; as the assistant, collaborator and muse of surrealist artist Man Ray in the 1930s; and as a pioneering fine art, fashion, and combat photographer whose images of the London Blitz, liberation of Paris, and Dachau and Buchenwald concentration camps were among the most powerful photographs of World War II.

5 pm: Antony Penrose Lecture: The Legendary Lee Miller 

Antony Penrose will discuss the life and work of photographer Lee Miller in his talk titled “The Legendary Lee Miller” as part of the opening celebration for the exhibition The Indestructible Lee Miller,  Antony Penrose is the son of artists Lee Miller and Roland Penrose, and is the Director of the Lee Miller Archives and The Penrose Collection. His talk will provide unique personal insight into the remarkable life of one of the 20th century’s most influential and trailblazing photographers.
