Early Adopters of Online and Distance Education Continue to Innovate
NSU has long been a leader in education when it comes to online and distance learning. The university introduced its first off-campus course of study in education in 1972 and since then has become nationally recognized for its innovative distance education programs.
A recent study from the Online Learning Consortium shows that 30% of students are enrolled in at least one online course and 14% are enrolled completely online.
College Choice spoke to NSU Fischler College of Education professor Michael Simonson, Ph.D., about how online and distance learning got started at the university.
