Computer Science School’s Associate Dean Helps Seniors Learn Computer Skills

Last June, Eric S. Ackerman, Ph.D., associate dean of NSU’s Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences, was notified that the Neighborhood Networks Center grant he submitted in partnership with Douglas Gardens North was approved.

The grant is funded for $5,300, which purchased hardware and provided seniors with training in basic computer functions, Internet, email, and other related skills.

Ackerman recently completed training with his third group of seniors and instructed the seniors on:

  • Microsoft Windows Basics
  • Using the Internet
  • Creating a GMAIL account and connecting with family and friends.
