Circle of Friends of NSU’s Library Names New Additions and Executive Officers

NSU President George L. Hanbury, II, with newly appointed Circle of Friends President Adolfo Cotilla, Jr., and Lydia M. Acosta, NSU’s Vice President for Information Services and University Librarian.

The Circle of Friends of NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center has announced new additions to its board of directors and new executive officers who were confirmed at the group’s annual meeting on May 7.

The Circle of Friends is a diverse group of individuals who share the common goal of furthering the intellectual resources of the Alvin Sherman Library. The board includes prominent Fort Lauderdale-area leaders such as new additions John B. Lippincott, Owner of Lamfis, Inc. which does business as Hinson Office Supply, and Rona Levitt, Seitlin Insurance & Advisory Services, and consultant for Corporate Wellness Support Services.

New executive officers include: President Adolfo Cotilla, Jr., Vice-President Michael Greenberg, Secretary Sandy Tate, and Treasurer Arthur Drujak.

Current board members also include: Lydia M. Acosta, NSU’s Vice President for Information Services and University Librarian; Catalina M. Avalos; Ray Ballotta; Joan Baxt; Elaine F. Blattner; Diane Brewer; Charles E. Davis, Jr.; Raquel Ferrero; Marianne Ferro; Carlos Leo; Kristen M. Lynch; Laurence Alan Maurer; Luis A. Muriel; Greg Sandefur; Michelle Tuggle; and immediate past President, Anita Paoli.

Special recognition was also given to Sheldon Polish at the group’s annual meeting. Polish termed off the board after faithfully serving since 2004. 

The group’s Advisory Board is comprised of past Circle of Friends presidents including founding President Gail Kaplan and past Presidents Mary Riedel, Silvia Flores, and Glenda Abbate.

The annual meeting was held in conjunction with the grand opening of the new art exhibit “The Defining Line: Whistler and Friends as Printmakers,” from the collection of Albert Kalson, Professor Emeritus of Purdue University. In addition to the exhibition opening, musical entertainment was provided through the “Mozart Musicale” concert by The Lyric Orchestra.
